Welcome to CITEP

CITEP, the Community Information Technology Enterprise Project, is an open-source computing project developed in an urban setting, and is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

nsf

The goal of CITEP is to bring together computer science and information systems faculty and students from Loyola University Chicago and the community residents from Chicago's Westside Health Authority to develop and distribute an open-source business accounting system for non-for-profit and small businesses. Participants gain practical hands-on experiences in developing open-source software in a team environment.

The CITEP project is committed to the use and evolution of open-source software. For example, this site is hosted on a Linux server running Apache and Plone. We thank those in the free and open-source software communities for their efforts and without whom much of our work would not be possible.

CITEP is a partnership between Loyola University Chicago, West Side Health Authority, and Teifeld Associates

For information about other open-source technologies used in the project, see the "technical overview":overview given by the graduate students.
